Ялта (Yalta) is where the heads of state of the Allied Powers met in February, 1945, to divide up control of post war Germany and create the United Nations, etc.
The Big Three were Stalin, Churchill and FDR. It was actually at nearby Ливадия. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yalta_Conference)
It' a great place to visit. There is a beachfront promenade with many attractions. There is the beach, itself, and there are the restaurants.
Of course, there is the obligatory statue of Lenin.
